The Marsh Rabbit Gallery

Carol Schiff
Art is my passion! I have always wanted to pursue art, but 20 years as a military spouse got in the way. Eventually, a business adventure led the way. The owner of a needlework shop, I had many requests for hand-painted needlepoint canvases. Soon I closed the retail shop and worked for 12 years developing and marketing a line of over 500 hand-painted canvases. In an effort to maximize my skills, I started taking classes and workshops with visiting artists, sold my design business and moved on to fine art.

The style I pursue is impressionist, with wild color and thick, creamy impasto strokes. I strive to make art full of action and texture. Each painting is like the start of an uncharted journey. I enjoy knowing the creation is mine from start to finish, taking a photograph that excites, composing a scene to satisfaction, and finally, stepping up to the easel. The competition is with myself, taking each painting further, working out each problem, until at last I am convinced it is completed.

Art has changed my life. It has taught me patience, to never give up, and to look at the world in a whole new way. It has brought wonderful, generous people into my life, and has given me a source for never-ending improvement and involvement.

My work has been greatly influenced through years of study with Australian artist, Sandra Johnson, and with workshops with Doug Dawson, Fritz vanEeden, John Budicin and others.

I am a member of the Strawbridge Art League, the Student Art Guild, and Pieces of Eight. I am represented by Marsh Rabbit Gallery, Jensen Beach, Florida.

My work may also be viewed on my website, www.cas-artfl.com.
